WORKSHOP “THE USE OF ALTERNATIVE MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS TO REPLACE WILDLIFE IN TRADITIONAL MEDICINE” IN HO CHI MINH CITY
With the goal of continuing to develop connections with doctors and practitioners of Traditional Medicine, as well as finding and promoting sustainable alternative solutions in Traditional Medicine without harming wildlife and the ecosystem, the workshop "The use of alternative medicinal ingredients to replace wildlife in Traditional Medicine" in Ho Chi Minh City was strongly supported by the community.

On April 12, 2025, the workshop "The use of alternative medicinal ingredients to replace wildlife in Traditional Medicine" was successfully held in Ho Chi Minh City. The event attracted the attention of about 95 experts, doctors, practitioners, representatives of government agencies, journalists and reporters from reputable agencies. The workshop brought together leading experts in the field of Traditional Medicine, representatives of government agencies, and reputable companies, such as:
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phuong Dung, Director of Viet Institute Of Medicine And Pharmacy (VIMP), Member of Executive Committee of the HCMC Association of Oriental Medicine.
- Dr. Doan Van Minh, Head of the Department of Traditional Medicine, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (HUMP)
- Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, M.Sc. Eng., Head of the Hue City Forest Protection Department
- Dr. Dang Thi Phuong Thao, Specialist Level I Doctor of Soc Trang General Hospital, Vice Director of VIMP.
- Dr. Tran Ngo Dong, Specialist Level I, Member of the Scientific Council of VIMP, Member of Professional Council of Bach Phuong Medicine and Pharmacy Co.Ltd.

Within the framework of the workshop, the main topics discussed included:
- Introduction to the Coalition for Wildlife Protection in Traditional Medicine.
- Past and present perspectives on wildlife in Traditional Medicine: pangolin, tiger, rhino, bear.
- Medicinal herbs and new Traditional Medicine methods to replace wildlife in disease treatment.
- Illegal wildlife consumption - risks of epidemics and legal violations.
