On June 14, 2024, the seminar "Wildlife Consumption and the Risk of Epidemics" was held in person at the auditorium of Hue Television Station (TRT), with the participation of more than 50 officials, Traditional Medicine students, and speakers from the Forest Protection Department and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The program aimed to provide scientific and practical information on the risks of disease related to the consumption of products of wildlife origin, while also raising community awareness, especially among Traditional Medicine practitioners, about the link between wildlife consumption and the risk of epidemics.
The seminar pointed out the reality of illegal wildlife hunting and trade, the false beliefs about "miracle drugs" like bear bile, rhino horn, pangolin scales, etc., and the serious consequences both in terms of health and legality. In particular, the speakers emphasized the urgency of replacing products from wildlife with readily available medicinal ingredients in modern Traditional Medicine.
